Sam Rowlands
Chief Executive Officer
Sam’s career started with blue chip advisories Knight Frank and GVA before working as a strategic asset manager for a private family office, managing a large and varied investment and development portfolio.
Sam set up his own development company in 2011, leaning on his experience Sam learned the art of analysing key markets, identifying opportunities and creating attractive packaged investments for the capital markets. Over the period Sam has delivered schemes totalling over 2,000 units across the residential, student and specialist care sectors.
Sam has extensive knowledge of development and funding structures and oversees Brickland’s corporate strategies including acquisitions, planning, procurement, funding and disposals.
Sam has a Masters of Science and is a qualified chartered surveyor.
Darren Leary
Chief Operating Officer
With over 25 years' experience in development and regeneration across the public and private sectors Darren previously worked for both plc housebuiders and contractors.
His experience spans the whole of the development cycle from land assembly through to design, planning and delivery functions.
Darren's career to date has seen him work on projects with a combined value in excess of £1bn and at Brickland he has full oversight of day to day business operations.
Paul Hill
Chief Financial Officer
With a career spanning over 15 years in real estate funds management, Paul has extensive experience in direct, listed and unlisted property investment and development across the UK, Europe, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Macau.
Paul was previously a director at Headland Developments with responsibility for identifying new ventures in the UK and the sourcing of capital partners, and he has also been responsible for the management of a large listed entity’s AU$2.5 billion real estate portfolio comprising office, industrial, hotels, residential, development and social
infrastructure in Australia, Japan and Europe.
Paul has a Bachelor of Commerce and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia.
James Scully
Commercial Manager
James has over 10 years’ experience in the commercial management and delivery of construction projects, spanning various sectors and ranging in values of up to £200m.
James climbed the commercial ranks of a large UK plc Contractor before deciding to broaden his skills abroad, spending over four years working in the Middle East, during which time he was involved in the delivery of large- scale strategic projects for the region.
With extensive commercial and contractual knowledge, James plays a key role in overseeing the preparation of construction budgets, supporting tendering processes and developing key supplier relationships. James’ project expertise means he provides additional support to our Construction Manager and external consultant teams during the delivery phase.
James has a Bachelor of Science and is a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
Tom Williams
Construction Manager
Tom's construction experience spans over 30 years' across the residential and commercial sectors, working for a variety of UK plc's on large scale construction delivery.
Tom monitors performance of contracting partners on site ensuring the highest levels of safety and quality assurance are achieved, protecting Brickland’s and our funding partners interests at all times.
Prior to our projects commencing on site Tom’s expertise in construction detailing, programming and risk mitigation adds significant value.
Tom qualified in Construction Management at Liverpool JM University.
Harvey Murphy
Land Executive
Harvey is the newest member of the Brickland team having joined the business at the beginning of 2019. Harvey works closely with the Directors to identify new opportunities to fill our expanding development pipeline across the UK.

Isobel Randall
PA to Directors/Office Assistant
As well as keeping the team in order, Isobel's role includes general administration for the company and she is the first port of call for our clients and consultant teams with any enquiries. Isobel also performs the highly important role of managing the social calendar.
